I am a foodie and wine enthusiast at heart, so I was thrilled when offered the opportunity to attend this year’s Chicago Gourmet presented by Bon Appétit. It was a magnificent experience. On Saturday, September 26th, my best friend and I met in Millennium Park for what would be one of our best dates eva! We’d previously read about the event and checked out the schedule, but we had no idea what we were in for.
We were immediately taken by the aroma of grilled steak wafting through the aisles. Upon entering we received a gift bag and a beautiful wine glass. We knew at that moment we were about to experience something special. Overwhelmed by the options (food, wine, food, desserts), we decided to start with a tasting of pinot grigio. We noticed people walking around with their glasses attached to a funny little plate, so we took their cue and followed suit. (Whoever thought of this is a genius.)
We decided that we wanted to try everything, so we did just that. There was no method to our madness, but when the lines were long one of us would wait while the other replenished bites and drinks. It was a match made in heaven. Before we knew it the day had flown by. We were full, a little inebriated, and very happy.
If I can’t eat my way around the world via travel, I will eat my around the world via Chicago. Chicago Gourmet was incredible and I am so thankful for the experience. Put it on your calendars for 2016 because I’ll definitely be there.
